Día 29: darkness

Breakfast Goals: oatmeal and coffee on the balkony

all the internationals: Italy, Taiwan, Japan, Italy again, Venezuela, France, UK, Australia, Germany

Plaza Major.

Also wenn ihr irgendwelche Vorschläge habt – bitte her damit.

Buenas Noches!

Whoops, my last post was already three days ago. But to be honest, nothing really happened. Except from now. At this very moment we don’t have electricity in our house and the two houses next to us. Since one hour already (luckily I just arrived 15 minutes ago – my flatmates told me). But the house manager says that, if we‘re lucky, it will be working again by 11pm. If we’re lucky? WTF. This is in 1 ½ hours 😨.
We walk around the apartment using our phone-lights because it is f*cking dark everywhere. My battery is on 13% and the battery of my laptop is only half full. What am I going to do all the time? WiFi is also dead of course.

But here we see how dependent we are on technology and that almost nothing works without electricity anymore. I mean, I don't want to complain about it. Things like that happen and I would be happy with reading a book in the light of a candle or something. BUT WE DON’T EVEN HAVE CANDELS!!!! So I am going to be productive for as long as my laptop is still alive and write an awesome blogpost.

On Monday literally nothing happened. I went to university and then to the gym. A casual day. Yesterday evening I went to an Italian pizzeria with some friends because our italian friend Anna was missing her italian pizza so badly. I had a margherita *as always*and it was in deed quite good. Not comparabe to real italian pizza or a pizza from some really good restaurant in Germany, but still very good. By the way, the restaurant was called „Pizzaiolo“ and I always had to think about „YOLO“ which made me quite uncomfortable. Afterwards we went to an italian ice cream shop. So obviously, it had been and Italian night out.

Today, me and three friends of mine wanted to visit the rooftop bar of the Museo de Bellas Artes to watch the sunset. But when we arrived there we discovered that exactly today – and only today – it was closed to the public because there was a private event going on. Nice. Just when we wanted to go there. So we went to Plaza Mayor and had some drinks there. I went for a smoothie (which was really good) and the girls had Tinto de Verano and ice tea. Since Plaza Mayor is one of the main tourist spots in Madrid there had been a lot of tourists. And therefore there were also many beggars asking for money at the tables. This made me feel really uncomfortable and it was annoying so I think I'd be better off visiting places which are less touristic.
We then decided that we should have a food group, which means that each of us four will invite the others to their place and cook something typical from their county (we’re one girl from Italy, one from Taiwan, one from France and me). I really don’t know what to prepare for them. I thougt about Kartoffelpuffer or maybe Kaiserschmarrn but actually these are only desserts. I am not really into German food and I can certainly not cook any real German dish. So if you have any ideas please let me know.
Someday I also have to make milkrice for our japanese friend – I promised that. He knew that european people eat this but he thinks it sounds really disgusting, especially because we usually top it with something sweet. He didn’t understand how good it is.

And well, now I am sitting here in the dark and hope that the electricity will work again soon. Maybe I will try to sleep but this might not be possible because I downed a coffee two hours ago.
But as I am in a flow of writing and I have nothing better to do, I can tell you more: there were no classes today because there were some events only for teachers. This was, I think, very cool because Wednesday is usually my long day (from 8 – 13). So quite a lot classes were cancelled. However, we were able to go to the university to check on our spanish level test-results. I was put in group B1.1, which I was hoping to get into.
My courses are now always on Monday and Wednesday from 15-17. Pretty long but at least not on Fridays. Therefore my Fridays stay free. Yas!

OOOOOK. Just in the moment when I finished the post and sorted out the pictures, I heard somegone going into the bathroom and using the light switch. So I carefully tried my light switch AND THE ELECTRICITY IS BACK AGAIN! THAK GOD! I am so happy right now – I was really afraid that they would not be able to get rid oft he problem and that by tomorrow we would still be here without electricity.

Buenas Noches!
