Day 85: Throwback Saturday

Am Samstag bin ich mit ein paar Leuten zum Sydney Tower Eye gegangen. Das ist das höchste Gebäude in Sydney und man kann ganz bis zur höchsten Etage hoch fahren. Aber das kostet - $30 um genau zu sein. Und weil wir alle arme Praktikanten und Backpacker sind, sind wir in die Bar gegangen, die sich in der Etage unter der 'Aussichtsplattform' befindet. Zur Bar muss man keine Eintritt zahlen, mann muss lediglich $20 pro Person dort ausgeben - aber das lohnte sich auch. Das Essen war gut (sagten die anderen - ich hatte nur einen alkoholfreien Cocktail und einen Kaffee), wir mussten keine $30 zahlen nur um hoch zu fahren und die Aussicht war quasi genau die selbe wie eine Etage weiter oben. Aber die Aussicht war... naja. Zwar konnten wir bis zum Meer sehen, was ganz schön weit weg ist, aber das Wetter war echt schlecht und die Hochhäuser haben die Sicht auf sämtlichen Sehenswürdigkeiten versperrt - deswegen gibt's von der Aussicht von mir hier auch keine Fotos - war einfach nicht so sehenswert.
Dann sind wir zu Dover Heights gefahren. Und das wär somit das zweite Mal am Tag, dass das Wetter uns einen Strich durch die Rechnung gemacht hat. Es ist eigentlich ein Aussichtspunkt von dem aus man beobachten kann, wie die Sonne hinter der Skyline von Sydney unter geht. Blöd nur dass keine Sonne da war - sondern nur Wolken. Aber wenigstens hatte es dann nicht geregnet und es war auch nicht sonderlich kalt - sodass wir ca. 2 Stunden in diesem Park verbrachten. Als wir heim gefahren sind war es dann schon dunkel. Fazit: obwohl es an diesem Tag keinen Sonnenuntergang für uns zu sehen gab hatten wir irgendwie 'nen schönen Tag. Ich mag die Leute mit denen ich die letzten paar Tage was gemacht hab echt gern. Blöd nur dass ein paar von denen in 10 Tagen abreisen und der Rest Ende Januar.

On Saturday I went to the Sydney Tower Eye with a couple of friends. It is the tallest building in Sydney and you can go to the very top. But that costs. A lot. $30. And as we are poor interns and backpackers, we decided to go to the bar which is located one level below the top. You don't actually need to pay an entry fee, you just need to spend at least $20 per person at that bar. So basically it is much cheaper. The food there was really good (so said the others; I just had an alcohol free cocktail and a coffee) and we didn't had to spend $30 to simply go upstairs. The view is basically the same; no difference between the one from the top deck and the one from the level below. But the view was... well, we were able to look at the sea, which is quite far away; but the skyscrapers are covering the view on any of the sightseeings and the weather was bad - therefore no photos of the view; it really hasn't been spectaculous.
After that we went to Dover Heights. And this is the second timewhere the weater queered our pitch. It is actually a spot from which you can see the sun setting behind the skyline of Sydney. It could have been so beautiful - if the sun had been visible. The only thing we saw above and behind the city were clouds. But at least it was not raining and it was not really cold. So we kind of chilled there for a couple of hours and went back when it was already dark. But even if there was no sunset - we had a great time. I like these people I hung out with during the last days. But unfortunately some of them leave in ten days and the rest leaves in the end of Januray.
